Introduction

Mantra Academy ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you visit our website and use our services. We believe in full transparency — you deserve to know exactly what information we gather and why.

Information We Collect

Personal Information

When you create an account or make a purchase:

  • Name and email address
  • Profile information (optional)
  • Payment info (via Stripe — we never store your card details)
  • OAuth data (Google/Facebook sign-in)

Browsing & Usage Activity

To understand what resonates and improve your experience:

  • Pages you visit and features you use
  • Time spent on pages
  • How you found us (referring website, landing page)
  • Campaign info if you clicked one of our promotions
  • Device type, browser, screen size, and display preferences
  • IP address (for general location and security)
  • A random visitor identifier to remember your preferences across visits

Practice & Listening Activity

To help you track your journey and so we can improve our offerings:

  • Course progress and lesson completions
  • Meditation listening duration and completions
  • Mantra practice (japa) counts and session durations
  • Sound healing (solfeggio) frequency listening activity
  • Audio and video play, pause, and completion events

What You Write

The most personal information we hold. Your journal entries, reflection answers, and support messages are stored privately against your account and are never shown to other students. Reviews are the one exception — they are published:

  • Journal entries you write during a lesson (private)
  • Answers you choose for lesson reflection prompts (private)
  • Course reviews and ratings you submit — these are shown publicly on the course page and our testimonials page, alongside your profile name, photo, and location
  • Messages you send us through support (private)

When you ask for your Personal Insight letter at the end of a course, we send your first name, journal entries, reflection answers, practice record, and course review to Anthropic to write it. They are sent exactly as you wrote them — we do not anonymize them first, so any names you mentioned go too — and Anthropic does not use them to train its models. Your support messages are never part of that letter. See Third-Party Services for exactly what leaves our servers.

How We Use Your Information

1Provide, maintain, and improve our services
2Process transactions and send related information
3Send course updates and newsletters (opt-out available)
4Respond to your questions and support requests
5Track your course and practice progress for personalized learning
6Write your Personal Insight letter when you ask for it after completing a course, and your Jyotish reading if you add birth details
7Understand which meditations, courses, and practices resonate most so we can create better content for you
8Protect against fraudulent or unauthorized activity

Third-Party Services

We use a small number of trusted third-party services to operate our platform. These services only access your information as needed to perform specific tasks on our behalf:

Supabase

Database hosting and user authentication

Stripe

Secure payment processing

Bunny.net

Content delivery for audio and media

Resend

Email delivery services

OpenAI

Vedic astrology (Jyotish) readings and personalized practice encouragement — we send your first name, practice progress, and birth details (if provided) to generate your reading. OpenAI does not use it to train its models.

Anthropic

Personal Insight letters and support ticket handling — when you ask for your letter after completing a course, we send your first name, journal entries, reflection answers, practice record, and course review (if you left one) to write it, exactly as you wrote them and not anonymized first; for support, we may use AI to classify and draft responses from your message and account context. Anthropic does not use any of it to train its models.

We do not use third-party analytics services like Google Analytics or Facebook Pixel. All of our analytics are first-party — your browsing data stays on our own servers and is never shared with advertising networks.

Cookies & Browser Storage

We use essential cookies to keep you logged in and remember your preferences. For analytics, we primarily use browser storage technologies (localStorage and sessionStorage) rather than traditional tracking cookies. Here's what that means for you:

Visitor Identifier

Before you create an account, we assign a random visitor ID stored in your browser so we can provide a consistent experience across your visits. This identifier is not linked to your real-world identity.

Activity Linking on Sign-Up

When you create an account or sign in, we connect your earlier browsing activity to your new account so your preferences and progress carry over seamlessly.

Engagement Tracking

We measure how you interact with our content — like how long you spend on a page and which features you use — to understand what's most helpful to you. Sessions are tracked with a timeout of 30 minutes of inactivity.

Email Engagement

Our emails include small invisible images and tracked links so we can understand which content you find valuable. This helps us send you more of what you enjoy and less of what you don't. We also collect basic device and browser information when you open our emails.

You can manage browser storage and cookies through your browser settings at any time.

Data Retention

We retain your personal information and activity data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you services. If you delete your account, we will delete or anonymize your personal information — including browsing activity, practice history, and analytics data — within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal purposes.

Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information, including encryption in transit and at rest, secure authentication, and regular security audits. However, no method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure.

Your Rights

No matter where you live, you have the following rights regarding your personal information:

  • Access your personal information
  • Correct inaccurate data
  • Delete your account and data
  • Opt out of marketing communications

To exercise any of these rights, reach out to us via the contact details at the bottom of this page. We'll respond within 30 days.

Your data is stored on servers in the United States through our service providers (Supabase and Vercel). When you ask for a Personal Insight letter or a Jyotish reading, the information listed under Third-Party Services is also processed in the United States by Anthropic and OpenAI respectively. We rely on appropriate safeguards, including our providers' compliance with recognized data protection frameworks, to ensure your data is protected in accordance with GDPR standards.

If you believe we haven't handled your data appropriately, you have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection supervisory authority. We'd always appreciate the chance to address your concerns directly first — reach out to us at hello@mantra.academy.

Our services are not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected information from a child under 13, please contact us immediately.
